| I’m a subscriber, why did
I get a bill? |
| |
|
There are times when the emergency crew is not able to obtain necessary
third party insurance information that is needed. A subscriber may get an
inquiry from our business office that resembles an invoice, but is actually
a request for insurance information. |

that a covered service? |

What is the difference
between ALS & BLS
ambulance service? |
| |
An ALS
(Advanced Life Support) ambulance is staffed with a certified paramedic who
is able to diagnosis illnesses or injuries, administer medications, provide
cardiac monitoring, and carry out many procedures similar to those in an
emergency room setting.
A BLS (Basic Life Support) ambulance is staffed with a certified Emergency
Medical Technician who is able to treat illnesses or injuries, administer
oxygen, and provide cardiac defibrillation. |

| |
| Why should we call
Burholme and not dial 911? |
| |
|
Burholme Emergency Medical Services is a local community emergency service. We provide
the same level of care as the local 911 provider. We will transport you to a
local hospital of your choice as long as you are medically stable. The local
911 service will only transport you to the closest hospital. You will be
billed by the local service, however they do not offer any subscription
programs. |

| How do I become a
Paramedic or EMT? |
| |
|
There are many training institutes in the tri-county region that offer medic
and EMT courses to the public. Paramedic training consists of approximately
12 months of schooling and clinical exposure. EMT classes are approximately
6 months of schooling and clinical exposure. Both programs require a local
and national exam to receive credentials. |
